Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Henry Co. A. R. COOPER was born in Clark County, Ky., March 1, 1821, a son of Joseph and Priscilla (Baxter) Cooper. Joseph was born in Maryland a son of Arch and Mary (Ramsey) Cooper, and came to Kentucky with his parents when he was about eleven years of age. They settled in Clark County, where Joseph was a blacksmith, but was also engaged in agriculture pursuits. Mrs. Priscilla Cooper was born in Nicholas County, Ky., a daughter of Edmond Baxter. A. R. Cooper was reared on a farm, and received a common school education. At the age of twenty-eight he left his native county and came to Henry County, where he is now located on a beautiful farm of 187 acres of land near New Castle, and is engaged in farming and stock raising. He made one trip to New Orleans for other parties, and was always very successful in disposing of his stock. In 1873 he was married to Annie Massie, of Henry County, Ky., daughter of Jesse Massie.
