Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Henry Co. JAMES A. CHICK was born in Breckinridge County, Ky., February 19, 1831, the third child of eight children born to Perry and Louisa P. (Green) Chick. His father was born in Delaware, reared in Maryland, and married in Virginia. He was a plasterer by trade, and assisted in plastering the first capitol of the United States, at Washington, D. C. He immigrated to Kentucky in 1830, settled in Breckinridge County, and devoted his time to agricultural pursuits and stock raising. James A. Chick was educated at the best schools. In August, 1854, he bought a farm in Meade County, Ky., of 700 acres and engaged in farming and stock raising up to 1879. He then moved to Fayette County, Ky., but did not engage in any business, remaining there only a few months. January 5, 1880, he moved to Henry County, and purchased land about half way between New Castle and Eminence. He has a beautiful farm of 300 acres, a large brick residence, and is surrounded with all the comforts of life. September 19, 1874, he married Mary E. Eastin, of Fayette County, daughter of T. E. and Anna (Bryan) Eastin. Two children have blessed this union--one son and one daughter: Anna L., who is now at college at Eminence, and George C. Mr. Chick is a Master Mason, and has been W.
