Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Henry Co. S. M. CASELDINE is a farmer living one mile and a half from New Castle, born in Montgomery County, Ky., May 22, 1843, and is a son of James and Leah (Malone) Caseldine. They both were born and reared in Montgomery County, Ky. Leah is a daughter of Jonathan and Mary (Duncan) Malone. Jonathan was born in North Carolina, and had a son Obediah, who was a soldier in the war of 1812. Our subject, with his parents, left his native county in 1849, and came to Henry County. He has always been actively engaged in farming, owning 342 acres of land, and also pays some attention to stock raising, making a specialty of sheep. He married, February 23, 1864, Mollie D. McCann, of Lexington, daughter of Ben McCann, and two children blessed their union, one living: Mattie Lee. Mrs. Caseldine died March 9, 1869, a member of the Baptist Church. May 9, 1871, Mr. Caseldine married Emma Wilson, of Henry County, daughter of W. B. and Elizabeth (Offutt) Wilson. Three children blessed their union--one daughter and two sons, two living: Lizzie and William M. Mr. Caseldine and family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
