SIMEON BALE is a native of Green County, Ky., and was born December 14, 1830; his grandfather, Jacob Bale, was of Dutch descent, was born in New Jersey, was a blacksmith by trade and the owner of a flouring mill near Greensburg, Ky., where he located at an early day; he reared a family of seven sons and four daughters, of which number, Peter, the father of Simeon, was the youngest but one, and was born in 1796, and married to Miss Mary Dobson, in 1817; she was of Irish parentage and a native of Virginia. To this marriagae were born eight sons and three daughters: Jacob, Joseph, Caspar, Henry and Simeon are married, and reside near the place of their nativity; two daughters: Sophia, wife of George Hunter, and Sarah J., wife of James Poor, reside in Hart County. Peter Bale was a blacksmith and farmer; he died at his home in Green County in 1873; his widow, Mary, survived him about a year. Simeon Bale followed the trade of blacksmith, which he learned with his father; with his trade he connected farming, and has been uniformly successful in his business operations; he owns a farm of 220 acres, lying contiguous to the waters of Lynn Camp Creek, in Hart County, and his attention is given principally to the growing of grain and tobacco. In his twenty-ninth year, March 1, 1860, he was united in marriage with Miss Emily Lancaster, and to them have been born three sons: James, Solomon and Earl, and six daughters: Eliza J., wife of Dr. E. L. Jones, of Hart County; Mary, who married Frank Scott, of Green County; Laura, wife of Joseph Jones, of Hart County; Millie; Amanda and Flora, the last three unmarried and residing at home. Emily (Lancaster) Bale was born in 1836, and is a daughter of Jesse Lancaster, of Green County. Mrs. Bale is a member of the Baptist Church, and Mr. Bale holds the same faith, though not a member of the church. Politically he is a Republican and held the office of magistrate in his district from 1870 to 1876.
