Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1885, Hart County. CASPAR S. BALE is a Kentuckian by birth, and dates his nativity from March 14, 1823. He was born and reared on a farm, and his early education was limited to the common schools. Close application and home reading in after life made him conversant with the best literature, and his education in mathematics is sufficient for the transaction of ordinary business. He has been a farmer all his life, and in that vocation, very successful. Subsequent to his marriage, he purchased a small tract of land, to which he has added by later purchases, and this land is in a good condition and well managed. He gives his attention to general agriculture and stock raising. December 18, 1845, he celebrated his marriage with Miss Purlina Pointer, of Hart County. To them were born three children: Mary E., wife of William Vaughan; John, who married Miss Elizabeth Mitchum, of Hart County, and Nancy, wife of Samuel Best. Purlina Pointer was born November 14, 1829, and is a daughter of Edward and Nancy, of Barren County, Ky. Mrs. Bale is a life-long and consistent member of the Baptist Church; Mr. Bale, though not a member, bases his religious views on the Baptist faith. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, also of the I. O. O. F. He is a Republican, but without aspiration to political honors (see ancestral history in connection with a sketch of Simeon Bale.)
