WITHERS, banker, P. O. Cynthiana, is one of Cynthiana's oldest as well as most prominent residents, being a native of the place, and born Sept. 4, 1830. He is the son of William A. and Eliza (Perrin) Withers. The former was born in Virginia, subsequently became a merchant of Cynthiana, and was killed by a stray shot at the battle of Jacksonville; the latter was the daughter of Archie perrin. They were the parents of three children. John S. was education in the public schools of Cynthiana and at the University of Missouri. Mr. Withers first began business in the mercantile line with his father. In 1856, he was married to Miss Kate Remington, daughter of George Remington. Their union has been blessed with three children, viz: Ida, Lizzie and Rodney. In 1853, Mr. Withers succeeded his father in business, he also retiring from the mercantile business in 1856.
