DOUGLAS, farmer, P. O. Oddville, was born in Harrison County, Ky., March 28, 1814; son of Richard and Martha (Ames) Douglas, he, born near Fredericksburg, Va., a farmer by occupation, and dying in 1856, aged 76 years; she, born also in Virginia, and dying in 1862, aged 76 years. They had sixteen children. Our subject received his education in the common schools of Harrison County, and began life as a farmer. Dec. 18, 1842, he married, in Harrison County, Ky., Miss Sally Ann Lang, born in Ireland, April 16, 1822; daughter of William and Sarah (Ross) Lang, both natives of Ireland, and by which union there are three children living and two dead. Those living are Sarah A., Martha and John W. He owns 200 acres of choice land. Himself and wife are members of the M. E.
