BULLOCK, Graves County, was born December 6, 1828, in Dickson County, Tenn. He is the fourth of ten children, seven boys and three girls, six now living, born to William and Lyddie (Myatte) Bullock, of North Carolina; the father of Dutch-English and the mother of English-Irish origin. Subject's grandparents were Allen and Maria (Garner) Bullock and Wiley and ____ (Swanson) Myatte. Allen Bullock was a Baptist minister. William M. came with his parents to Graves County, December, 1832, and settled seven miles south of Mayfield, where his father entered and improved 220 acres of land. He, the father, died in March, 1858; the mother in August, 1871, aged respectively fifty-seven and sixty-six years. William M. was reared on a farm and lived with his parents until his marriage on December 26, 1847, to Minerva J. Watson, of Graves County, a native of Montgomery County, Tenn., and a daughter of Arthur and Naomi (Shipley) Watson, of Dutch descent. To Mr. and Mrs. Bullock were born two children, James A. and John R.; the latter died in infancy. Mrs. Bullock died November, 1852. Subject was next married, January 12, 1854, to Louisa M. Luther, of Graves County, a native of Dickson County, Tenn., and of Dutch descent. To this union eight children were born: Laura E. (now Blain), Electa A., Lydia B., Mary A. (deceased), William W., Henry Lee, Jacob A. and Thomas F. Subject and wife are members of the Christian Church, and of the Lincoln Mutual Aid Society, of Cairo, Ill. Mr. Bullock is also a member of the Masonic fraternity, and was formerly a member of the Grange. He started life without a dollar, and is to-day possessor of 225 acres of land with comfortable buildings; also a lot and blacksmith shop in Pryorsburgh.
