ALEXANDER was born December 23, 1855, in Hardin County, Tenn., and is a son of J.D. and Charlotte (Horton) Alexander. The father was born in North Carolina and died in February, 1878, at the age of seventy eight. The mother was born in Williamson County, Tenn., and died in 1862, at the age of fifty-two. The doctor spent the first sixteen years of his life on his father's farm; he then entered school at Saltillo, Tenn., and remained for two years. At the age of eighteen, he commenced the study of medicine, also practiced dentistry for three years, and since the age of twenty-one has practiced medicine. The doctor is an electrical specialist in the treatment of chronic diseases only, and is prepared to give a written guarantee to all cases he treats, having added electricity to his method of treatment in 1882, and having met with unprecedented success; he removes tumors without the use of the knife, or the loss of blood, and without inflicting pain. In 1883 he came to Mayfield, where he is permanently located. He was married in 1878, to Miss Susie Watlington, of Madison County, Tenn., by whom he has one son and one daughter, viz.: Hillery and Josie.
