Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. [Grant Co.] J. M. RIDDELL & SON have been conducting a saddle and harness manufactory in Williamstown since March 1877, twenty-four years. They have been so long connected with the business life of Williamstown as to have become a fixture and a part of its history. C. W. RIDDELL is the eldest son and the junior member of the firm of J. M. Riddell & Son. He has grown up in the business. Today, he is its chief manager and devotes his entire time to its details. He has for many years been a member of the town council, and has done much to systematize its business and have economy practiced in its affairs. He is an active secret society worker, being the treasurer of Centurion Lodge, I.O.O.F., a member of the Encampment and Rose Rebekah Lodge, and also a member of the Knights of Pythias, and is an active worker for the Democratic party. The harness and saddlery manufacturing plant of J. M. Riddell & Son is located in the "Oddfellows' Temple" and has been so located for almost 20 years. They manufacturer the finest grades of saddles, both men's and women's, the best harness, bridles, and all of the numberless things that belong to that branch of the trade, and year in and year out carry a seasonable stock of the best goods that money can buy or skill can build from the raw material. Charlie Riddell was born in Burlington, Boone County, October 11, 1848, and is a confirmed "old bachelor". Riddell = Burlington-Boone-KY http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/riddell.cw.txt
