"GEORGE" PETTIT is a progressive young man, and a business man from the word "go". He was born in Grant county on the waters of Eagle Creek August 17, 1872, and is a son of William A. Pettit and Mary (Hambrick) Pettit. He was raised on his father's farm and attended the common schools of the neighborhood. Later he spent two years as a student at Georgetown College. Since returning from college he has returned to the farm and has been a farmer all of his life. He married April 23, 1891, Annie B. Morgan, and to this union four children have been born, two girls and two boys. Their names are Carrie, Mabel, George and William Porter. In politics he is a Democrat and works for his party from start to finish. He is a member of the Vine Run Baptist Church, and an all around good citizen. In addition to being a good citizen he is a good farmer, and is deserving of success in all of his undertakings.
