William was born in Virginia, and was one of the first settlers of Campbell County, Ky. He was engaged in agriculture pursuits until 1849, when he went to California to dig for gold, and was very successful. He died in that state. Mrs. Ann M. He then located in New Alsace, Dearborn Co., Ind., and pursued his profession diligently and successfully until 1879, when he again entered college at the same place, and graduated in the spring of 1880. He also took a special course on the eye and ear under Prof. W. W. Seeley, of Cincinnati. He then located in Covington, Ky., but remained only a short time; removing to Williamstown, Grant County, he formed a partnership with Dr. W. C.
