Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. J. N. LEMMON. For nearly thirty years he followed pastoral pursuits. In 1884 he entered the mercantile business in Dry Ridge, being located at the north end of the town. For nearly two years he remained at that point, when he sold out his store and returned to the farm. In 1890 he again began business at the Conrad store, in the south end of town and continued in business there until 1894, when he again sold out and returned to his farm, where he remained until last year, when he prevailed upon to accept the cashiership of the People's Bank. In politics Mr. Lemmon is a Democrat of the Jackson and Jefferson school. He doesn't know how to "scratch" and always votes. A few years ago he was a prominent candidate for Assessor, and was defeated by only a few votes. He remained true and loyal to his party, and gave the ticket his fullest and most earnest support. He was married to Miss Mary Browning, March 11, 1886. To this union three children have been born--Stella, a bright girl of 13; Johnny, a boy of 10, and Lee, aged 5. His residence is on the Broad Ridge Turnpike, about four miles from Dry Ridge, and is one of the prettiest and most home-like in the county.
