Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. PIERCE KENT. Ninety-seven years old, somewhat bent and stooped with years of hard labor, but for all that lithe and vigorous. This is Pierce Kent, gnarled and twisted oak of the Irish forest. He is today the oldest citizen of Grant County. He was born in the County of Cork, Ireland, May 28th, 1805, and migrated to America in 1832. He came to Grant County and pitched his tent and made his home in 1841. He married Mary Elizabeth McAtee and raised six children, all of whom are now living. Mr. Kent is a rank Democrat in politics, and a member of the Catholic Church. He owns 100 acres of good land near Mason Station, in this county, and is able, as old as he is, to do a fair day's work and ride seven miles to town horseback by himself. He is good for many more years yet. Kent McAtee = Ireland http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/kent.p.txt
