HUTCHINSON was born in Harrison County, Ky., February 22, 1846, and is the younger of two children born to James and Elizabeth (Humphreys) Hutchinson, natives of Harrison County, Ky. John David, the older brother was born in 1844, and died in 1878. James Hutchinson, the father, was born in Harrison County in 1821, and died in the same county in 1882, he was a son of William Hutchinson. James Hutchinson's wife, Elizabeth, a daughter of David Humphreys, of Harrison County, died in 1852 at the age of twenty-eight years. Her father, David Humphreys, died in 1866, aged eighty-seven years. James W. Hutchinson, at the age of six years, moved from Harrison to Grant County, and was reared on a farm. He received his education at the common schools and at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He was married in 1867 to Miss Alice Lawrence, and began business in Dry Ridge, Ky., in 1868, where he has since lived.
