Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. OWEN HULETT was born at LaGrange, Ky., March 28, 1874. At an early age his parents removed to Burlington in Boone County, where the son received a common school education. When Owen was fifteen his mother removed to Williamstown, the father having died previously, and he entered the Williamstown Graded School. He did not graduate but added considerably to his stock of learning. After leaving school he entered Glascock's store as a salesman, and for four years he was a trusted employee of that firm. In 1896 he entered business for himself, in the grocery line, in the corner building where the Blue Grass Grocery is now located. He remained in that business for two and one-half years, when he sold out. He then began to supervise the work on the Covington and Lexington turnpike in Grant County, and was the manager for that corporation until the pike was sold to the county some two years ago. Last November Mr. Hulett bought out the stock of hardware of the Musselman store, and he has added to the stock of goods until now he has one of the finest and best lines in the county. He carried in stock a large line of first-class hardware, farming implements, farm machinery, stoves, air tight and blue flame, and almost every article of commerce that goes to make up a first-class hardware store. The stock has been added to from time to time, until he has a very large stock of hardware, farming implements and farm machinery. He also carries in stock a large assortment of small articles for his five and ten cent counters, each of which prove very popular with the people, and in connection with the business he carries a large stock of books, such as novels and histories, etc. Mr. Hulett was married to Miss Anaise Clark, eldest daughter of W. T. and Belle Clark, September 15, 1896. To this union one child has been born, a boy. In politics he is a Democrat, having always stood by the nominees of his party. But while a Democrat he is quiet and conservative and many of his nearest neighbors do not how what his politics is. Under his management the old corner store in which the late H. C. Musselman did business for so many years has undergone a complete and surprising change. His sales have increased to such an extent that two clerks besides himself are kept constantly employed. They are Mr. Arthur Thompson and Mr. Harry Matthews.
