GREENE was born in Owenton, Ky., June 4, 1875, and is a son of Judge J. W. Greene, now occupying the bench for the (the Fifteenth) Judicial District of Kentucky. His mother was Margaret M. (Gaines) Greene, who was born in Henry County, Ky., and who died February 22, 1882. He was schooled in literature in the Owenton High School and at the National Normal University, Lebanon, O. [sic], in law, at Centre College, Danville, Ky. Teaching school for one season at Worthville, Carroll County, he was admitted to practice his chosen profession at Williamstown, Grant County, June 4, 1897. Forming a partnership with John S. Gaunt, of Carrollton, Ky., in 1898, the combination has received liberal clientage. For the past three years he has served as Deputy Master Commissioner of the Owen Circuit Court, and as such is efficient in every duty and attentive to every detail. As a lawyer he is untiring in his efforts for the interests of those whose business is entrusted to him. Though but practically beginning his career, his friends esteem him among the most promising in this section of the state. Mr. Green became editor of the Owen News January 1, 1900. During his one year's ownership thereof it has increased in circulation from 1,200 to near 1,500 thus reflecting its popularity and prosperity. On October 17, 1899, Mr. Green was married to Miss Elizabeth Lindsay, daughter of Colonel William Lindsay, of this city, and the couple forms an interesting and mutual happiness.
