Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. WALTER GARDNER, an agent of the Q & C at Mason, is a son of A. F. and Louisa (Fightmaster) Gardner, and was born in Scott County on June 21, 1871. He received his education in the common schools; at an early age began to study telegraphy. After having thoroughly learned the business he secured his first commission as an operator at Erlanger, this state, on the Cincinnati Southern. He was a little later given the position of agent at Mason, and for more than eight years has successfully transacted the business of the road. He has made many friends among the people with whom he has come in contact, and will likely hold his position as long as he wants it. J. Walter Gardner was married to Miss Emily McLoney, July 17, 1891. One child, a boy, eight years of age has blessed this union. He is a devoted member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Williamstown and an all around good fellow. Gardner Fightmaster McLoney = Scott-KY http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/gardner.w.txt
