Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30,1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. J. N. FRANKS belongs to the younger generation of Grant County boys. He is a thrifty, vigorous plant, and in a few short years has done much for himself and the neighborhood in which he happens to find an abiding place. He is a son of Isaac R. Franks and Mary (Conyers) Franks, and was born March 4, 1854, and was one of a family of thirteen children--seven boys and six girls--all of whom are now living. He was brought up to manhood on his father's farm attending the Mount Zion common school, and securing a fairly good education. When of age he began farming for himself, and has been at it ever since that time. October 16, 1878, he was united in marriage to Miss Rosa Points, a daughter of the Hon. William Points. To this union five children have been born--Stella May, Clarise, Gertrude, Clifford Carlisle and Virgil Price. Mr. Franks is a Democrat, and his father was a Democrat before him, and the Franks family have been voting the Democratic ticket for half a dozen generations and John N. is especially active about election times. Mr. Franks owns a fine country home. It is located at the junction of the Dry Ridge and Mount Zion and the Mt. Zion and Sherman Turnpike roads. His farm consists of 303 acres, and is as good land as there is in Grant county. He farms it mostly with live stock, fine horses, cattle and sheep. Raises some tobacco, but does not believe in plowing his land to death. John Newton is a splendid good fellow, and he has everything in this world that is calculated to make life happy.
