Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. J. C. ELLIOTT. Among the young farmers of Grant County who are coming to the front in the business world is Mr. J. C. Elliott, who lives about two miles east of Williamstown on his fine hill farm on 100 acres. Mr. Elliott is a Pendletonian by birth, but migrated to Grant County and settled where he now lives in 1890, just ten years ago. He is a son of Napoleon B. Elliott and Hester H. (Goshorn) Elliott and was born November 6, 1866. He was raised on a farm and received a good common school education, and began life for himself as a farmer, and has stuck to his calling from that day until this, and has been more than ordinarily successful. He was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Piercefield, February 28, 1890, and to this union six children have been born. Four of his children has seen nine living grandparents, something a little remarkable, and indicating that Mr. Elliott and his wife each come of a family of remarkable longevity of lie. His children are Ethel May, Stella Grace, Emmette Barbour, Leolia Cecil, Chellis Edward and Raymond Matthews. Mr. Elliott is a prominent member of the Republican party, and a hard worker for his party in every campaign. He is an active member of the Knights of Pythias, and is Past Chancellor of Williamstown Lodge No. 23 and a member of the Unformed Rank. As a farmer he takes a high position. He is practical, a hard worker, raises tobacco, corn, hay and grain, and of live stock, hogs, cattle, sheep and horses. He is successful and a money maker, but a good citizen with it all. He is one of the young men, and the future no doubt has much in store for him. Elliott Goshorn Piercefield = Pendleton-KY http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/elliott.jc.txt
