"CARL" COLLINS is one of the young progressive men of Crittenden who have remained at home and are making their living at the old stand. He is a son of Washington Lafayette and Alice Lindsey Collins, and was born in Crittenden, Grant county, Ky. He received his early education at the common schools of Crittenden, and later graduated at the Kentucky University at Lexington at 1888. In March 1889 he went into the general merchandise business in Crittenden where he has been ever since and is at present. He was appointed Postmaster in June, 1888, and served for four years. In August, 1893, he was elected treasurer of the Crittenden Building, Loan and Savings Association, and has filled that position with satisfaction to the board of directors from that day to this. In January, 1893, he was commissioned notary public by Governor Bradley, and served in that capacity from that day to this. His is Deputy County Clerk under L. M. Gross, the present efficient County Clerk. In November, 1899, he was elected a member of the Town Council of the town of Crittenden. He is a member in good standing of Crittenden Lodge F. and A. M., and is at present Master of the Lodge. He is also a member of Walton Lodge No. 25, O.O.O.F., and has taken all of the degrees. He has been through all departments of the Knights of Pythias. He is a Jeffersonian Democrat. During recent years "Carl" has been engaged quite extensively in farming and is a quite a fancier of shorthorn cattle. His herd and that of his brother, Guy, kept on the old home farm, is one of the very best in the state. They have gathered up the best stock to be found in many state, and have built up a herd second to none. C. C. is a single man at present; he says he has never had time to marry.
