Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Grant Co. FRANCIS MARION CLARK was born in Grant County, near Dry Ridge, March 16, 1840. He was reared on a farm, and has devoted special attention to the handling and training of thoroughbred horses all his life. He is conceded to be the best and most practical horseman in the county. He also owns property in Dry Ridge on the Lexington and Cincinnati Pike. May 30, 1867, he married Jennie Nichols, daughter of Solomon and Martha (Glasscock) Nichols, the former of English ancestry. Mrs. Clark was born September 16, 1847. Four children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Clark: Edwin L., born April 20, 1868; Annie P., born September 20, 1871; Maggie, born November 18, 1873, and John S.
