Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. HENRY CHILDERS was born at Dry Ridge February 11, 1815, four years before the county of Grant was established by law, and at the time when Grant county was a precinct of Pendleton. After Grant county was laid off and organized the first County Court was held at the Childers residence at Dry Ridge. Judge Childers was married April 12, 1838 to Elizabeth Bryant Conyers. Seventeen children were born to this union. In early life he was a Whig, and a devoted admirer and follower of Henry Clay. He afterward cast his fortunes with the Democratic party. In 1878 he was elected Judge of the Grant County Court on the Democratic ticket, and was re-elected to that office in 1882, serving in that important position for eight years. He retired to private life in 1886. In religion he was a Primitive Baptist and in every respect a model citizen. He died in Grant county in August, 1899.
