Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. A. L. CHILDERS, born near Dry Ridge, March 6, 1873, was the youngest of four living children. He is a son of W. H. and Lucille (Pierce) Childers. He obtained a common school education at Dry ridge, and afterward learned the carpenter's trade. For several years he followed this calling, working alternately at it and the tobacco business, which he understood almost as well as carpentry. He began business in the grocery trade in South Dry Ridge, May 1, 1900 and in June following he married Miss Kate Plunket, a very handsome and accomplished young lady of Keefer. He continued in the grocery business until the first of the year, when he sold out and bought the restaurant formerly occupied by J. F. Mann. His trade has increased almost daily, until now he has probably the largest restaurant trade of any man in the county. In addition to his restaurant he handles a line of groceries, and has quite a fair trade in them. He also represents a good tailoring company, and will make a suit of clothes as cheaply as they can be produced anywhere on earth. He is the sole agent for laundry at Dry Ridge, and this is quite an item in his income. Childers Pierce Mann Plunket = none http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/childers.al.txt
