Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. DR. A. D. BLAINE. No disciple of Esulapias stands higher in his profession than does Dr. A. D. Blaine of Dry Ridge. During the ten or twelve years in which he has visited the sick and afflicted, his name has gone abroad throughout the entire north end of Grant as a practitioner skilled in his profession. His practice has increased until at the present time it is second to none in the county. Dr. Blaine is the eldest son of Capt. R. C. and Nannie Blaine, and first opened his eyes to the mysteries and beauties of this world in the year of our Lord 1867 in the county of Lincoln. When the doctor was 8 years old his father inherited a tract of land in Grant near Delia, and removed there, and it was at that place that he worked on a farm in summer, went to school in winter, and grew up to manhood's estate. He secured a good common school education in that neighborhood, attending every term taught in the Childers District until he was almost a man. He taught three terms of school and laid up money enough to take a course in the Kentucky School of medicine, from which he graduated in 1890. He came to Dry Ridge, hung out his shingle, and has been there ever since. He is a part of the town and one of its most ornate fixtures. The doctor is a member of several medical societies, and is an enthusiastic worker in all of them. Among the societies to which he belongs are North Kentucky Medical Association, Kentucky State Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He also belongs to a number of secret and benevolent orders, principal among them being the F. and A. M., I.O.O.F., Knights of Pythias and the Red Men. He is a regular attendant at the meetings of his lodges, and never fails to respond when called on. He is also a member of the Presbyterian Church. On Nov. 26, 1846, he was married to Miss Anna Mary O'Hara, one of the fairest of Dry Ridge's many fair daughters. One child has come to add happiness to their lives - a bright little son.
