BAXTER was born in Estill County, Ky., in 1819, and is a son of Ephraim and Nancy (Bibie) Baxter, natives of Grant and Clark Counties, respectively. B. Baxter was educated at the county schools, and was always a farmer. He removed to Grant County in 1886, and operated a livery stable in Williamstown. In 1847 he married Mary Ecton, of Clark County, a daughter of Horace and Margaret (George) Ecton. To this union six children have been born: Margaret, wife of William Parker, of Mississippi, has four children; Nancy, wife of John A. Williams, a farmer of Grant County, has four children; Emma, wife of William Johnson, a farmer of Boone County, has four children; Mary, wife of Newton Scurm, of Kenton County; Joseph married Belle Snider, of Boone County, and has one child; the sixth child, Benjamin, is still unmarried. Mr. Baxter is a member of the Methodist Church. Politically he is a Democrat.
