WILLIAM CLEVELAND was born December 7, 1819, in Jessamine County, Ky.  In
1834 he removed with his mother to Garrard County, and in 1856 located in
the neck of Polly's Bend, Kentucky River, where he has since resided. His
father, Zatthue Cleveland, a native of Pennsylvania, was born April 7,
1780; removed when quite young with his parents to the vicinity of
Abingdon, Va., and to Pulaski County, Ky., about 1805, and afterward to
Jessamine County.  He was a farmer and cooper by occupation, served as a
soldier in the war of 1812, and died in 1825.  His brothers were Adin,
Morris and Eli.  In 1803 he married Elizabeth Hand, of Abingdon, Va.,
born March 22, 1784, and to them were born James, Sarah (deceased), Nancy
(Ramsey), Elizabeth (Yates) Clarinda (Beaty), John, Delitha (Temple),
William, George and Mary A. (Beaty).  William Cleveland has never married,
nor is he attached to any church.  He is a farmer by profession, having
300 acres of land in a good state of cultivation.  In politics he is a
Democrat and a prohibitionist.
