GEORGE ROBERT BRIGHT was born August 28, 1833, near Bryantsville, Garrard County, Ky., where he grew to manhood, and in 1872 he located in the Big Bend of Dick's River where he has since resided. His father, Thomas Bright, a native of Virginia, removed , in childhood, with his parents to Garrard County, Ky., where he was reared; was a farmer, a Whig, lost six slaves by the late war, and died May 11, 1867, aged seventy-five years. He was the son of James Bright, of Virginia, who located on Sugar Creek, Garrard County, Ky., about 1800; was a farmer and slave-holder, and died in 1840, at the age of eighty years. He married Margaret Smith, and their offspring were Margaret (Garvin), Betsey (Hoskins), James, John, William and Thomas. Thomas married Sophia Rochester, of Boyle County (died August 5, 1848), and to them were born Elizabeth J. (Grimes), William H., Margaret (deceased), Thomas H. (deceased), Mary H. (Robinson), John R., Martha E. (Saunders), and George R. George R. Bright has never married. He is a farmer and owns 343 acres of productive and well improved land, in a high state of cultivation; has also an interest in another tract of 455 acres.
