KENTUCKY: A History of the State, Battle,Perrin & Kniffin, 4th ed., 1887 Garrard Co. JOHN C. BONER is a son of William B. and Elizabeth (Cavins) Boner, and was born March 5, 1825. William B. Boner, a native of Fayette County, was in early life a brick mason, but in 1835 removed to Garrard County, where he became a successful farmer. In 1808 he married Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Cavins, who bore him a family of six boys and four girls. William B. was first a Whig in politics, but afterward became a Democrat, and he and his wife were Presbyterians. John B.(sic) Boner, who was born near Walnut Hill, Fayette County, moved to Garrard County with his parents in 1835, was reared a farmer, and is now owner of 300 acres of well cultivated land. He first married Miss Mary Kemper, and had born to him four sons: William, T.K., John Quincy and Edgar S. His second marriage was to Miss Georgia Ann Raines, and to this union were born Mary F., Margaret E., Joseph C., Thomas Cavins, James Alfred, Oliver P. Morton, George Welsh and Speed Fry. In politics Mr. Boner was until the late war a Whig, but has since been a Republican; he is also a member of the I.O.O.F.
