Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Gallatin Co. VIRGINIUS T. CRAIG, a rising young farmer and stock grower of Gallatin County, Ky., was born February 12, 1858. His father, Albert G. Craig, a native of Carroll County, was born April 1, 1807, and was a well-to-do farmer; he took an active part in all political matters, and was twice elected to the county judgeship of Gallatin County. He married Virginia J. Brooking, of Clark County, daughter of Robert E. Brooking, of Virginia, and six sons and five daughters were born to their union, of whom the subject of this sketch is the youngest. Benjamin Craig, the paternal grandfather of Virginius T., was a native of Virginia, came to Kentucky in an early day, and settled on a farm in Carroll, then Gallatin County. Virginius T. Craig was educated at Ghent College, Ghent, Carroll County, but on account of failing health, he gave up his studies, lacking only four months of completing his course. He has been on a farm all of his life, and owns 200 acres of well cultivated land. October 29, 1884, he was united in marriage to Carrie Gaines, daughter of Benjamin L. and Eugneia (Brady) Gaines, natives of Kentucky. One daughter has blessed this marriage, Corinne. Politically Mr. Craig is a Democrat; his wife is a member of the Baptist Church. Craig Brooking Gaines Brady = Clark-KY Carroll-KY VA http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/gallatin/craig.vt.txt
