HUT HAWKINS was born in Franklin County, October 30, 1823, and is the third son of Roddie and Elizabeth (Jones) Hawkins. Roddie Hawkins was born in Virginia and was a son of Elisha and Rebecca (Edwards) Hawkins. Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins was a daughter of Frank Jones. R. H. Hawkins was reared in Franklin County, educated at the common schools, and has always been a farmer and stock raiser. He married, February 20, 1844, Miss Agnes Hawkins, of Franklin County, daughter of Moses and Elizabeth (Hawkins) Hawkins. Four children blessed their union, of whom one is living, Hallie, who married R. L. Redden, of Anderson County, December 20, 1883, and has one child, Gilbert. Mr. Redden was born in Anderson County, July 20, 1857, lived in Anderson County until 1884; then came to Franklin County and has been here ever since. He has always been engaged in farming and stock raising, and now lives with Mr. Hawkins, his father-in-law, and superintends his farm of 230 acres. Mrs. Agnes Hawkins died in April 1871, a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Hawkins next married, March 4, 1877, Ellen Chalk, of Mercer County, Ky., who died August 5, 1880, a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Hawkins and daughter are members of the Baptist Church.
