Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Franklin Co. WILLIAM L. GRAHAM, born in Franklin County, Ky., July 21, 1840, is the eldest son of David and Elizabeth Graham. The father was born in Virginia and the mother was born in Madison County, Ky. William L. Graham has always lived in Franklin County except two years he spent in Shelby County, Ky. At the age of sixteen he commenced to learn the carpenter's trade, and is now a builder and contractor. He married, in 1862, Mary J. McAllister, of Franklin County, daughter of Robert and Sarah McAllister. Two children have blessed this union: J. W., born in Franklin County February 17, 1863, was educated at Frankfort, learned the carpenter's trade under his father and continues to work with him, is industrious, active, energetic and painstaking in everything he engages in; F. L., the second son, was also born in Franklin County, educated in common schools, works with his father, and is held in high esteem by all who know him. Mrs. Mary J. Graham died October 5, 1868, a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Graham was next married, January 26, 1870, to Mary J. Marshall, of Frankfort, daughter of George W. and Patsey (Martin) Marshall. Of the three children that blessed this union two are living: George D., born December 5, 1871, and Pattie B., May 10, 1876. Mr. Graham, his son, J. W., and wife are members of the Christian Church.
