HISTORY OF FAYETTE COUNTY, KENTUCKY, by Robert Peter, ed. by William H. Perrin, O. L. Baskin Co., Chicago, 1882. Reprinted by Southern Historical Press, Easley, SC, 1979. THOMAS P. EMBRY, farmer and stockraiser, P. O. Walnut Hill. The subject of this sketch is of Virginia stock, and is a son of Joel Embry, who was among the early settlers of Madison County. With a brother, he penetrated into the wilds of that region and cleared up a farm, upon which he died at a ripe old age. He represented the county one term in the legislature, and was highly respected as an honorable man and a worthy citizen. He left a family of seven children, among whom was Thomas P., the subject. He was brought up on a farm, and has followed farming ever since as a business. In 1876, he was married to Miss Mary Reed, daughter of William L. and Josephine (Hogan) Reed. The Hogans were from Garrard County, and the Reeds were natives of Fayette, but afterward moved to Mercer County. Mr. Embry has one son, William R. His property, known as the "old Grimes farm," consists of 300 acres of excellent land. Reed Hogan = VA Madison -KY Garrard-KY Mercer-KY http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/fayette/embry.tp.txt
