Estill County The following interview was made on July 20, 1898. My grandfather, David Snowden, was born in Pennsylvania. He was a soldier in the War of 1812. He married in Pennsylvania. After the war, he settled on Plumb Creek, Estill County, near the old forge. He drew a pension until his death which occurred during the (Civil) War. He had children as follows: Nancy (Brandenburg); Joseph went to Indiana; one lived on Otter Creek; one lived down in the Blue Grass; David was my father. He lived at St. Helens. He married Miss Margaret McGuire. He had children: Marion and myself were the only boys; four girls - Nancy (Henry Noland); Paulina (Anthony Thomas); Deucia(?ds} married a Bartlett, went to Lower Blue Licks and died. I am 74 years old. My father was about my age when he died. The Snowdens are Black Dutch.
