Used by permission. [Daviess] MRS. ZILLAH BARNES POTTS: Mrs. W. G. Potts, wife of the pastor of the Whitesville Baptist Church, was born at Constantine, Breckenridge [sic] County, Kentucky, and is the daughter of T. H. and Sarah Hoskinson Barnes. Her mother was a daughter of Elder J. W. Hoskinson. She attended both grade and high schools at Franklin Cross Roads, Hardin County, Kentucky; Eastern State Teachers College, Richmond, Kentucky; and Western State Teachers College, Bowling Green, Kentucky. For some nine or ten years she followed the profession of a school teacher. Mrs. Potts made a profession of faith in the year 1904 and was baptized into the fellowship of the Vertrees Baptist Church, Hardin County, Kentucky, by Elder J. T. Duvalt. She has been a very active worker in the churches. She served as President of the W. M. S. for eleven years and as Young People's Director for nine years. Her work has not been confined to the churches of which she has been a member. She served as Superintendent of the Nelson Association W. M. U.; State Chairman of the Circle Plan work; State Chairman of the Personal Service work of the W. M. U. on different occasions; as Vice-President of the West Central District W. M. U.; as Superintendent of the Daviess-McLean W. M. U.; as Vice-President of the Western Region W. M. U.; and as the Young People's Leader of the Daviess-McLean Associational W. M. U. She became the companion by marriage of Rev. W. G. Potts, on November 29, 1917. One daughter, Evangeline, blessed this happy union. She has been a model of propriety in her home and in her church and has been a most efficient helper to her husband in his pastorates. Her work in the Daviess-McLean Association, especially among the women, has been outstanding for the past eleven years. She is known and loved by a multitude.
