WILLIAM MUFFETT was born in Breckinridge County, Ky., Jan. 6, 1831, and 
is a son of Benjamin Muffett, who died when William was but five years 
old.  Our subject's mother, Elizabeth B. Duncan, was born near 
Yelvington, this county, and had removed to Breckinridge County, but 
upon the death of her husband she returned with her family to this 
county.  She afterward married Henry Roberts.  Mr. Muffett has always 
lived on a farm; and, as his father died whe [sic] the children were all 
small, he had but very limited educational advantages.  Mr. Muffett 
married a daughter of William Bell  (deceased), and is the father of 
seven children, of whom four are living--Alonzo, Mary A., William H. and 
Hillary B.  Mr. Muffett is a member of the Christian church.
