"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone, Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky. Used by permission. p. 275. [Daviess] WILLIAM MOORMAN: William Moorman, a brother of James H. L. Moorman, was set apart about the same time as his brother to the work of the ministry by Little Otter Church in Bedford County, Va. He emigrated to Kentucky about 1808 and settled in what is now Hancock County. He aided in organizing several churches in the Goshen Association. Among these were Blackford, in Hancock County, in 1825. He assisted Thomas Downs, Ancil Hall, and D. J. Kelley in constituting this church of 21 members. He also assisted his Brother, James H. L. Moorman, Ancil Hall, and D. J. Kelley, in constituting Bethabara Church on October 5, 1825. He served as the first pastor of Blackford Church until the time of his death in 1834 - the same year his brother went to his final reward. At his death he was about 62 years of age, having been born about the year 1772, and had been in the ministry 32 years. Although not so gifted as his brother he was an interesting preacher and the Lord wrought a good work by him. An exceedingly sad circumstance occurred in the life of this good man in that he accidentally shot his wife through the head causing instant death. Records show that he performed marriages in Daviess County from 1829 to 1834 the year of his death.
