"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, pp. 390-392. Used by permission. [Daviess] JOHN WILLIAM KINCHELOE, Th.M., Ph.D.: John W. Kincheloe, Jr., was born at Crewe, Virginia, on November 17, 1906, and is the son of Dr. John W. Kincheloe, Sr., and Florence Henderson Kincheloe. His father was a Baptist Minister and he was baptized into the fellowship of the Bainbridge Street Church, Richond [sic], Virginia, in 1913, after making a profession of faith in Christ as his Saviour [sic], his father baptizing him. Our brother is a graduate of the Rocky Mount, N. C., high school and received the B.A. Degree from Richmond College, Richmond, Virginia, in 1928. He has also received the Master of Theology and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees from the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He entered the ministry in 1924 and was ordained by the First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in 1928, with Revs. H. F. Jones, J. L. Coley, D. E. Hill, I. L. Yearby, and his father, Dr. John W. Kincheloe, Sr., serving as the ordaining council. He served the Mataoca, Virginia, Church from June to September, 1928, when he entered the Seminary at Louisville, Kentucky. He served the Bethabara Church from November, 1929, to November, 1933; Macedonia from April, 1930, to November, 1934; Friendship from May, 1930, to May, 1933. From January, 1935, to February, 1941, he served the Calvary and Main Street Churches at Emporia, Virginia. Since February, 1941, he has been pastor of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. He married Miss Barbara Farmer, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Farmer, of Bluefield, West Virginia, on August 1, 1940. His father has been pastor of the First Church, Rocky Mount, N. C., for the past twenty-five years. An interesting coincidence occurred in reference to his call to the Main Street Church of Emporia, Virginia. His father was called to the care of the Church in 1907, when our subject was one year old, but he declined. Twenty-seven years later the son was called and accepted. In both instances the same man, J. C. Lifsey, was Chairman of the Pulpit Committee. Brother Kincheloe is well known and loved by the Churches he served in this Association.
