KELLEM was born in Bell County, Ky., Sept. 4, 1857, and was a son of James and Emily (Colson) Kellem, both natives of Bell County, his father born about 1834 and his mother in 1840. His father enlisted in the Twelfth Kentucky Infantry, and died while in the army, in 1862, and was buried at Louisville. Mr. Kellem had one brother, George, born in 1858. In 1863 his mother married George H. Lucas and came to Daviess County. They have no children. Mr. Kellem is a carpenter, having learned the trade in 1877. Politically he is a Republican. He and his step-father, Mr. Lucas, own the property where they reside, a mile west of Owensboro, valued at $4,000.
