"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky. Used by permission. p. 270. [Daviess County] JOB HOBBS: Elder Job Hobbs was a pioneer settler in Daviess County, Ky., and according to the History of the County he was one of the early settlers in the Curdsville community, settling there about the year 1805. He was present at the constitution of Tanner's Meeting House Church (now Buck Creek) in 1812 and is thought to have been the first pastor. There are other records which seem to disclaim this. No doubt his labors were much but the records are scarce. He helped to constitute Bethel Church in Henderson County in 1813, and Highland Church in Union County in 1812. He was pastor of the old Grave Creek Church's in Henderson County as early as 1803. He went into the constitution of the old Red River Association in 1807, being a messenger from the Grave Creek Church at that time. The Red River Association embraced churches in Western Kentucky and Northwestern Tennessee. According to the Court Records he performed marriages in Daviess County in 1815-1817. He must have been quite an old man at this time for no record is found of him after this. We know not whence he came or whither he went.
