Phillips, who lives in the Casad community, has been blind for thirty years, he had continued during the greater part of his blindness to direct the management of his farm. Mr. Phillips, who only recently celebrated his eightieth birthday, is a native of this county, having been born on November 20, 1848 near Nunn's Switch. His father was the late Daniel B. Phillips. With the exception of W.E. Phillips, who now lives in Arkansas, Mr. Phillips is the oldest Phillips of the original family of this county. His wife was formerly Miss Betty Johnson. Three of Mr. and Mrs. Phillips' four children are still living. They are Henry and Herbert Phillips and Mrs. Tom Bracey, all of this county.
