The Crittenden Press, Marion, KY 7 Sept 1928. Used with permission. K.E. CANNAN, one of the oldest residents of Marion, is 92 years old. He was born in Caldwell county, near Shady Grove, April 22, 1836. Mr. Cannan had four brothers, three of them living to be over 80 years old. The oldest brother died during the Mexican War. Two of the other brothers fought in the Civil War. In 1846 Mr. Cannan made his first trip to Marion. He says that along the road, which was only a bridle path at that time, were only four houses between Shady Grove and Marion; and there were no houses between Tribune and Marion. Mr. Cannan came to make his home in town in 1885. His first wife was Miss M.C. Hall, and his second wife was Miss Mary Elizabeth Cobb, who died several years ago. W.D. Cannan, of Repton, and A.S. Cannan, of Marion, are sons of K.E. Cannan. His two daughters died in their youth. Besides his two sons Mr. Cannan has two living grandchilden and four great grandchildren.
