WILLIAM B. WILLIAMS was born in Carroll County, Ky., December 29, 1834,
and is the fourth of twelve children born to Joel and Sallie
(Deatheridge) Williams.  Joel Williams was born and reared in Harrison 
County, Ky.  He moved to Carroll County at an early date, and was 
married there.  He was quite an extensive farmer and stock trader in 
his day, and regarded as one of the leading citizens of Carroll County. 
His father, William Williams, fought in the war of 1812.  William B. 
Williams was reared on the farm, and received his education at the 
common schools.  In 1863 he enlisted in the Fourth Kentucky Cavalry, 
Confederate Army, as a private, under Col. Henry Giltner, and served 
until the close of the war, when he returned to Carroll County and 
engaged in the mercantile business.  In 1870 he moved to what is now 
Sanders Station, and continued in business there until 1885, when he 
sold out.  He has been an extensive dealer in tobacco for many years, 
and is widely known as such.  He owns a fine farm of 200 acres in 
Carroll County, and is carrying on farming in connection with his other 
business.  September 29, 1871, he married Mollie E. Whitaker, daughter 
of Asbury Whitaker of Carroll County.  Four children have blessed this 
union: Katie, Maggie, Birdie and Charley (deceased).   Mr. and Mrs.
Williams are members of the Baptist Church, and in 1884 the two
daughters also attached themselves to this church--Katie, aged thirteen,
and Maggie, aged ten.  Politically Mr. Williams is a Democrat.
