Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Carroll Co. JOHN Q. ADAMS, M.D., a practicing physician at Sanders Station, was born in Carroll County, Ky., July 2, 1859, and is a son of Benjamin S. and Sarah E. (Hanks) Adams, natives of Carroll and Boone Counties. Benjamin Adams was born in Boone County, Ky., where he lived until 1857 when he moved to Carroll County, and was married November 4, 1858, and reared a family of seven children. He has always been a farmer. In 1862 he moved to Vevay, Ind., and remained there until 1865. He and his wife are still living at Sanders Station, Carroll County. John Q. Adams was brought up on the farm, and received a common-school education. In 1881 he commenced the study of medicine, with Dr. J. B. Grant, of Sparta, Ky., and in 1885 he graduated from the Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery. He then located at Sanders Station, Carroll County, where he has since been constantly and actively engaged in the practice of this profession. In 1881 he was commissioned postmaster of Sanders Station, filling that position until 1884. March 3, 1886, he married Miss Julia Chambers, daughter of John and Frances (Jennings) Chambers, of Owen County, Ky. One son blessed this union, Barry G. Mr. Adams is a member of the F. & A.
