FRANCEMAY R. CASSITT was a native of New Hampshire; educated at Middlebury College in Vermont; emigrated to the south-west about 1820, and became the first president of the Cumberland College at Princeton; was one of the originators of the Religious and Literary Intelligencer, the first paper published under the auspices of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a man of fine culture, and a respectable preacher. He spent his latter years in Tennessee, and died there in 1863. Dr. Cassitt published the "Life and Times of Rev.
