Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 2nd ed., 1885, Butler Co. N. T. HOWARD was born in the county of Butler, on the north side of Green River, June 27, 1860. He received a liberal education in the Butler County Seminary, Morgantown, and in the Agricultural and Mechanical College, Lexington, Ky.; he studied law with William Wand, Esq., of Morgantown, and was admitted to the Butler County bar in April, 1883. His father was J. W. Howard, a native of Butler County, born in 1827, and was by occupation a farmer, and died in 1873; his mother was Nancy I. Nation before her marriage; was born in Ohio County, in 1835, and died in 1879, leaving five children, of whom our subject is the second. The others are James N. Howard, residing in Daviess County, Sarah E., O. O. Howard and Dorcas. Mr. Howard is a member of the Baptist Church, and is also of the Republican party.
