Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B Bracken County WILLIAM V. WELDON, editor of the Bracken Chronicle, was born in Augusta, Ky., May 21, 1854, and is a son of Vachel and Alcie N. (Thurber) Weldon, the former a native of Bracken County, Ky., and the latter of Northwood, N.H. The grandfather of our subject, also named Vachel, came to Kentucky from Maryland, while his maternal grandfather was a native of Northwood, N.H. William V. Weldon was educated at Augusta College, and read law with Thornton F. Marshall. He was admitted to the bar in 1876, and in 1886 he assumed control of the Bracken Chronicle, a Democratic newspaper which he now conducts in connection with his law practice.
