THOS. H. WILSON, farmer, P. O. Paris, is descended from an old and
honored English family, and traces his genealogy back to his grandfather,
Isaac Wilson, a native of England.  The courtesy and chivalry of a
Southerner and the honest pride of an Englishman are still to be traced
in his descendants.  Thos. H., the subject of this sketch, was born in
Fayette County, Ky., Aug. 13, 1823, and is the son of Samuel and Rebecca
(Layton) Wilson, daughter of Thos. Layton.  The earlier years of his
life were spent in acquiring and education and is assisting his father.
Being possessed of a high sense of honor, and natural financiering ability,
he rapidly acquired a financial standing in the community. He now owns 580
acres of fine blue grass land, on which he has resided for many years.  He
has given much attention to the growing of hemp, in which all his theories
put in practice have proved a success.  He has handled and bred some fine
short horns, though not classed among the extensive breeders.  He was
formerly a member of the old Whig party, but since the war he has been
Democrat.  He was married in 1849 to Miss Margaret, daughter of Geo.
McLeod, of Bourbon County; they had four children--Fyette, now wife of Dr.
Wm. Warren, of Versailles, Delia, Anna and Kate.  He is almost sixty years
old.  Mr. Wilson is still a man of vigorous mind and clear judgment.
