History of Bourbon, Scott, Harrison and Nicholas Counties, Kentucky, ed. by William Henry Perrin, O. L. Baskin & Co., Chicago, 1882. p. 570. [Bourbon County] [Centerville Precinct] HUBBELL C. CHINN, farmer, P. O. Leesburg; was born Aug. 16, 1842, in Missouri, his parents, Christopher C. and Nancy (Shropshire) Chinn, having removed to that State from Kentucky in 1831, but afterward returned to Bourbon County. The father died in 1872, but the mother is still living; the grandfather of our subject, Joseph Chinn, came from Virginia at an early day, and was one of those brave and hardy pioneers who helped turn the then wilderness of Kentucky into the blooming land it is now. Our subject married, July 9, 1863, Mrs. Lucy Kendall, and they have one child, Harry Hawkins, born March 29, 1868; Mr. Chinn owns 170 acres of excellent land, and handles short-horns in a moderate way; himself and wife are members of the Christian Church and he is a Democrat.
