Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Boone Co. JOHN E. WALTON was born in Bracken County, Ky. April 8, 1826, and was the fifth of seven children born to Josiah and Margaret (Humlong) Walton. Josiah H. Walton was born in Virginia in 1787, and was an early settler in Bracken County, where he lived and died. His occupation was farming and tanning. Margaret Humlong was born in 1799. She married Mr. Walton January 9, 1817, in Bracken County, and had seven children, viz: Eliza A., Simeon H. Susanna M., Katherine R., John E., George H. H. and Josiah H. Josiah H. Walton, Sr., died September 28, 1830, and his widow died in 1847. John E. Walton was brought up in Bracken County on the farm, and received his education in the same county. In 1845 he moved to Boone County, and settled a few miles west of Burlington, where he lived until 1871, when he moved to where he now resides, two miles west of Erlanger. February 5, 1852, he married Missouri McGlasson, a daughter of William and Alice (Barton) McGlasson, of Boone County. To this union nine children have been born--four daughters and five sons--viz: Laura V., George F., William M., John J., Thomas J. J., Napoleon B., Daisy, Margaret H. and Alice C.
